Welcome to New Horizon

New Horizon is a science fiction world which holds the soul of a fantasy world's loose and inventive play style and its sense of exploration and wonder. It's a brand new world, just waiting for you to explore it!

If you enjoy roleplaying and science fiction, but have been turned off by restrictive play settings or basic fantasy settings, then join New Horizon and be part of a new world beyond your imagination. The campaign is set across a vast and varied world, with terrains both familiar but refreshing and new, to completely alien in nature. From urban jungles to mountain passes of living crystals. From deep tropical mangroves to bio-luminescent subterranean fungal forests. New Horizon will take you to places you've only ever seen in your imagination, and let you come back in time to answer the door for the pizza delivery.

For RPG games, New Horizon uses an exciting new system called Volt. We think it's one of the best new systems out there, and we look forward to the chance for us, and the RPG technicians at Volt to show you just how liberating this system can be.

January 17, 2013: Working on the GMG...

For the past three months we've been working on completing our third book, the Game Master's Guide. We are adding plenty of new materials for the book, and improving all our old materials. We are focusing on adding plenty of adventure seeds, to give GMs as much "meat" for the bone we can possibly do. We are careful not to force too much direction into the book though, living plenty of things for the GM to decide on his own. We aim at completing the book by the end of March. So please bear with us a bit longer so that we may provide you with a book of great quality.

November 1, 2012: NH Player's Guide 2.0 Released

After prolonging the release date for our Player's Guide by several months, we have finally completed the book. Many things have been improved, and we won't be ashamed by what we have produced now. New weapon art, and new descriptions were added of course, along with other goodies here and there. I hope that these books will give all of you RP-gamers out there a lot of satisfaction.

Now we're going to focus on completing the Game Master's Guide!

October 16, 2012: Upcoming Release Dates

Player's Guide: The Player's Guide is being finalized right now, and we will release the completed book on November 1st 2012.

Game Master's Guide: The Game Master's Guide is still a bit behind, and will not be released until Q1 2013.

We are also working on a new Immersion Guide focusing on areas around Trapper Town.

We would like to apologize to all you people waiting for these books, but know that it is more important for us to make sure they are of high quality rather than releasing them too early.

July 25, 2012: New Horizon Player's Guide 2.0 Revoked

The new Player's Guide was revoked by… us, actually. We thought it was completed, and then when we took another look at the finished product we saw it contained many flaws. So just as we were about to release it more globally, we had to take it back in again and go through it one more time. We're going to put extra effort into fixing these remaining flaws and make sure the final product becomes worthy of being called a Player's Guide.

July 11, 2012: New Forum Skin

Our forums were upgraded a while ago to vBulletin version 4.2. Today we uploaded a new skin for the forum as well. If you haven't already, join our forums and have a look at what we from the New Horizon staff have in development for you.

July 8, 2012: New Horizon Player's Guide 2.0 Completed

The Player's Guide 2nd Edition has been completed and can now be purchased from Lulu for approximately 37 USD. The guide contains Volt-rules for players, a character creation guide, information about races, weapons, armor, backgrounds, traits, and lists of gear and equipment. We are still working on the Game Master's Guide, which we hope to finish soon.

We'd also like to say thank you to Patrik Hallberg from Falkenberg in Sweden for helping us out with advice regarding this book.

"What I like the most about New Horizon is the in-depth story, rich character creation, writers that actually listen to their community (not just the whiners), best of all that covers the free stuff available."

Everything you need to setup a New Horizon RPG is provided for FREE, but where do you start and what should you do next? The information below will guide you through the process:

The free Starter Guide provides detailed step-by-step information for player and game master (GMs) on how to create characters and RPGs for the New Horizon setting. Page 11-12 of the guide provides information about how to start your own game and other things you might need when playing.

Once you are familiar with the Starter Guide, it's time to create a character. The easiest way to do so is to use our Character Creation Generator.

The Games section of our webpage provides an introduction to our roleplaying game.

However, the RPG Games section is where you'll find all our free roleplaying materials which you can download and use for your New Horizon adventures.

You can also visit the RPG Adventures section where you can download official and fan-made adventures, as well as adventure seeds for your own adventures.

New Horizon RPGs are played using the Volt Rule System and two D20 dice. If you don't have two dice available, you can use our D20 Dice instead.

Once you have created a character, visit our forums where we are running several different play-by-post (PbP) games. Select the RPG you like and join the adventure together with other players.
