New Horizon is a science fiction world which holds the soul of a fantasy world's loose and inventive play style and its sense of exploration and wonder. It's a brand new world, just waiting for you to explore it!
If you enjoy roleplaying and science fiction, but have been turned off by restrictive play settings or basic fantasy settings, then join New Horizon and be part of a new world beyond your imagination. The campaign is set across a vast and varied world, with terrains both familiar but refreshing and new, to completely alien in nature. From urban jungles to mountain passes of living crystals. From deep tropical mangroves to bio-luminescent subterranean fungal forests. New Horizon will take you to places you've only ever seen in your imagination, and let you come back in time to answer the door for the pizza delivery.
New Horizon is a table top RPG. While the D20 tabletop system is the most popular, New Horizon uses an exciting new system called Volt. We think it's one of the best new systems out there, and we look forward to the chance for us, and the RPG technicians at Volt to show you just how liberating this system can be.
February 6, 2012: Fenix #1 - Swedish RPG Magazine
The first 2012-issue of the Swedish roleplaying game magazine (Fenix) appeared in the stores today. The magazine contains a 16-page New Horizon Starter Guide, using the new Volt 3.3 rules. This new version of our starter guide was created specifically for the magazine, allowing all Fenix readers to be the first people to get a glimpse at our latest materials. The guide will appear on our webpage by the end of March, but if you want to get your hands on a pre-view, then you better run to your store and get a copy of Fenix.
January 31, 2012: Sea Gorgons
Sea Gorgons are huge ocean creatures, very intelligent and very cruel. Sea Gorgons are responsible for the disappearances of several ships and submarines around the world, but primarily in the Landsdale ocean where they prefer to make their homes. The home of a Sea Gorgon is often found in a complex of underwater caves some of which contain breathable atmospheres for those creatures they capture and keep as slaves.
January 21, 2012: More Crythals
We have prepared more information for you about our Crythal race. The second Crythal article provides an introduction to the Crythal city Elornaeo found in the Azuremar Mountains, not far from the Garden of Zen. The third Crythal article goes much more into detail about the Crythal city, explaining how the Crythals live, how their crystal city works, and so on. The article also introduces the Crythal queen and her palace to the reader.
January 15, 2012: The Crythals
Our second humanoid race and perhaps the more mysterious one are the Crythals. The Crythals were first seen in the city Garden of Zen found deep in the Azuremar Mountain Range. They appeared wise and peaceful, learned yet naive. The garden was chosen as their first inroad into New Horizon civilization both for its proximity to the Crythal's home, and for a kindred spirit they believed resided in the garden.
The Crythals will be added to the game mechanics and made available as player characters right after the Faenorrs.
January 15, 2012: The Faenorr
Our first new humanoid creature is the Faenorr. Neither a human nor a wafan, but a totally new race in the world of New Horizon. Some of you have seen a glimpse of them before. But now they are here, and soon they will be implemented into the game mechanics, and made available for players to play with.
January 6, 2012: Janakananda
We were contacted by Anders and Tove today, from the Fenix RPG magazine, and we were informed that a person named Åsa created a new roleplaying adventure named "Janakananda" based on New Horizon. We were very happy to hear about it, and we'll be more than happy to support Åsa in the future if she decides to create more adventures like that. It's wonderful to see that other people are starting to create games for New Horizon, which is after all what we want people to do. The adventure is (unfortunately) in Swedish, but can be downloaded as a PDF-file.
"For me, the most unique thing about New Horizon is the world and setting. 'You' don't just stick with the traditional and established; 'You' built something new."
"The setting does it for me on the fun-factor as well. The richness and variety of the world offers untold opportunities for RP. It allows for more than just dungeon crawls and its focus is not towards a single story premise. So no post-apocolytia with just a bunch of sad faces, or cyberpunk setting that's all about getting back at the man; New Horizon offers so much more."
Everything you need to setup a New Horizon RPG is provided for FREE. Start by creating a character using our Character Creation Generator.
We provide step-by-step information for player and game master on how to create characters and RPGs for the New Horizon setting. The free Starter Guide is the best way to get started.
The Games section of our webpage contains a lot of free roleplaying materials which you can download and use for your New Horizon adventures.
New Horizon RPGs are played using the Volt Rule System and two D20 dice. If you don't have two dice available, you can use our D20 Dice instead.
Once you have created a character, visit our forums where we are running several different play-by-post (PbP) games. Select the RPG you like and join the adventure together with other players.
