We have updated the whole "Planet" section of the webpage. All faction information was updated accordingly to the newly released book; Campaign Setting Guide, 2nd Edition. The Missive Union is no longer a faction on its own, but an organization which belongs to the Council of Avalon. We also added a new faction to the world to take the place as the seventh faction of the Council of Avalon, and its name is The Quisivati. We also updated the images for each sub-race found on the "Races" page.

October 31, 2011: Freeform RP

Lock-Os is starting a new RPG at our forums, and here are the rules:

1st: You MUST be able to post twice a week, unless noted. I only want people that can honestly say they will be willing, and on some level, able to RP. This is not strictly personal, but with the number of stalled RP's, I'd like it so that we could be able to have eople who want to do RP to be able to. I will take Finals week into consideration because I know that will cause problems.

The good news is that if you know you won't be able to make it, or that you found a different RP for your character, you can have your character seamlessly drop out and then have them reappear. Me making characters disappear however will not be seamless nor pleasant for them. Also, I won't mind taking temporary control of your character until you can RP again.

2nd: Point limit is set at 45, but money is only at 35,000 Geos. To put this in perspective, the characters will be somewhat skilled, but otherwise poor. A skilled youth clawing his way out of poverty is but one example of this kind of situation. Anybody wishing to join with a character that has been made already with different points and geos can apply but will not be automaticly accepted right away, although I won't be too picky.

3rd: If you got an idea, speak up! This is your story, and you'll be able to voice your opinion about what the group should do.

4th: For the duration of the RP as it is, your only limitation will be that you stay in the area of Yousam at least for the start of the RP, This is were most of the action is by default, and travel to the other continents is expensive, and honestly, not as lucrative as far as an ability for adventurers to make Geos.

September 26, 2011: Fenix #5 - Swedish RPG Magazine

Fenix is a Swedish magazine focusing on role playing games. For this issue of Fenix we prepared something really special. Since the topic was Hidden Places and Lost Treasures, we wanted to give the readers an example of what can be found on New Horizon. We started with an introduction which was something of an RPG story, including four people who you wouldn't normally see travelling together. The hero, or should I say heroine, is a young Medean female called Ellaenor. She travels together with tree none-too-good people, a maverick Jotun Wafan named Crusher, a notorious Pirate Captain and the Sphecius Assassin Elder. They finally stumble upon a cavern full of vast treasure, but between them and all that wealth stands a great beast named Bone Monger (closely related to the Grim Stalker). After that we describe several other places found on New Horizon, although most of them are still unknown to humans and wafans. One of these places is the crystal city named Elormaeo, home to one of our new races, the Crythals. We also talk about some of the treasures found at the bottom of the Cain Ocean.

If you want to know more then get your own copy of the Fenix magazine, or visit our forums.

September 12, 2011: Naming the Internet Contest

The Internet on New Horizon isn't used the same way as we use it on Earth. Data transfer speeds are almost instantaneous inside of the local area. Over long distances as well, but only after about a five minute delay. Nevertheless, many central data hubs, a lot like websites, are mirrored in some towns, but specialized data takes about five minutes at a time to retrieve, from something as simple as an e-mail to send or as complicated as the entire native visual encyclopedia.

What we need is a good name for this weird network. We'll offer a 25 dollar award to the best submitted name.

September 12, 2011: Goblin Overhaul Contest - concluded

The Goblin Overhaul Contest is now concluded! Our winner is Sarah Adam with her Grepling entry! Not that it was an easy choice, there were some rather interesting entries! Sarah will be awarded with 25 USD.

We would like to thank everyone for their time and the thought they put into the naming process!

September 4, 2011: Goblin Overhaul Contest

New Horizon is home to a host of extremely unpleasant creatures named Goblins. One of our associates on the Vo|t team believes this to be retarded. I don't mind the name Goblin personally, but I just grabbed it on a whim, and have no particular attachment to the name, so I thought lets toss that shit out the window and upgrade it a tad.

These creatures are pretty unpleasant, and clever little animals that eat children, ruin electronics, burrow into homes and destroy their interiors, etc. Like halfway bulletproof Raccoons on steroids. They need a better name than Goblins, so that's where you lot come in!

The person that comes up with the best new name for these wins a cool $25.00 as well as a minor credit in the next edition of the New Horizon books release. Just remember, the new name needs to work well with the sub-species name. Such as "Camel-???", "Lake-???", "Bat-???", and the like. Also, we're trying to avoid names of existing fantasy/sci-fi creatures. The same goes with real animals. Make up something new.

June 3, 2011: Fenix #3 - Swedish RPG Magazine

Fenix is a Swedish magazine focusing on role playing games. When I came home today and found Number 3 of the Fenix magazine in my mail! Oh happy day! The magazine contains the first public interview we've made. Covering almost four pages it contains an interview with us and information about our planet, our races, our... yeah, you know, this and that. What can also be found inside is a two page review of our books. They were tough but fair on us I'd say, and we will definitely use their good advice to improve our upcoming books. We've been invited to do another write-up for the next issue as well, and the next after that! It is great because Fenix is a really great magazine, dedicated to role playing games. Too bad it's only in Swedish.

April 22-24, 2011: GothCon XXXV

GothCon is a Swedish game convention which started in 1977. This year the convention is celebrating its 35th anniversary. More than 1000 people are coming.

We from New Horizon will also be there, and we will be one of the exhibitors at this convention. We have printed 125 Starter Guide books which we will give away for FREE at the convention. A book will only be given away for free to someone who leaves us with their name and e-mail. We will later on send out an e-mail to everyone and ask for feedback concerning the book.

GothCon was truly great! Rooms were filled with everything from Dungeons & Dragons to many other RPGs. We met with the people behind Fenix and En Garde!, just to mention a few. Many New Horizon Starter Guides were distributed and people showed interest in our games. This was the first role playing convention we attended. Some book signings happened as well. On the left you see Michal signing a book. On the right you see Kari who won a full color New Horizon Role Playing Game Compendium for being the 100th person to request a Starter Guide and to leave us with his name and e-mail. So I think we can fairly say that the convention was a success.
